That Peeter Bruegel was a humorist is proven by this picture! As he learned a lot about the technique of the XVI th. century painter Joachim Patinir, he had to use very fine brushes (000), for example to paint his panel "The suicide of Saul, Viena". As he depicts himself with this large one, the meaning of this drawing is clear...
